Styling Tips

  • Type 4 hair types tend to have parts of their hair that are drier than the rest of their hair. If you have this problem, pay extra attention to this part of your hair and apply extra moisture and lay off the heat a little bit in this area

  • The LCO (liquid, cream, oil) or LOC (liquid, oil, cream) methods to moisturize your curls
  • Your hair type is a bit dryer than 4A, so you will really benefit from utilizing a pre poo routine using coconut or castor oil to help retain moisture better
  • This tip also goes for all hair types, using a microfiber towel or a tshirt to dry your hair after washing as terry cloth strips more moisture and causes more tension and tears on your hair strands

Do's

  • Use sulfate free shampoo and hair products to reduce dryness and hair damage
  • Trim ends every 3 or so months
  • Moroccan oil will tame your hair really well.
  • As your hair has a more fluffy, cottony texture and appearance, and has bends and curves in the hair shaft, it is more susceptible to dryness and breakage so pay extra attention to your hair and moisturize frequently.
  • You will benefit a lot from protective styles as this reduces manipulation allowing your hair to grow without bring at risk of high amounts of dryness and breakage.
  • Seal in moisture with oil on wash day and nightly
  • Use a spray bottle and moisturizer to revitalize your curls
