BOX BRAIDS

Box braids are individual plaits that are usually divided by small squared off parts or boxes. Box braids may be of any width or length, but most women add synthetic or natural hair to the braid for length as well as thickness and fullness. The great thing about these braids is that because they are not attached to the scalp like cornrows are, they may be manipulated into several different styles. It may take a long time to complete the style, but the finished product is beautiful and lasts for months.

CROCHET BRAIDS

Crochet Braids are a protective style used for African American women with natural Hair. Crochet braid hairstyles last between 4 to 8 weeks or longer depending on the intricacies of your braid pattern, quality of hair installed, and your maintenance routine. Since crochet braids are a long term protective style, be mindful that your natural hair needs care as well. Leaving your hair braided longer that 8 weeks can increase breakage of your natural hair.

WEAVE

Weave is a term which refers to synthetic or human hair used to change the appearance of someone’s hair by adding hair to their natural hair. Specifically, a weave refers to a style when someone’s entire hair is braided. Once the braids are made, a needle is used to sew extensions of hair into the braids. The extensions are sewn from one ear to another. The weave last for 6 to 8 weeks. The advantages of a hair weave are that they help in making the hair longer, add thickness to hair along with volume, and no chemicals or glues are used. Weaves also give women the versatility to change their hair color without having to dye it. Weaves are a great way to give your natural hair a break! The disadvantage of a weave is if the braids are too tight, they may cause a headache, soreness of the scalp.
